Re: Andy Impey
I remember him being shit and clueless. Think it was a defeat to Southampton, may be wrong, when we kicked off second half and the ball was played out to his wing. It went for a throw as he hadn't realised we had kicked off again due to facing the wrong way.

debut and almost goal here. Looks like a save rather than hitting the bar as I had thought

Didn't like him, thought he was average at best.

I did however like Andy Cole, proper old school goal hanging poacher.

Re: Andy Impey
Didn't realise he played so many games.

We bought him for £1.2m and sold him for £1.6m so actually made a profit.

Many thanks for your help guys - the piece is now published: https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/blast-past-no-9-andy-110646704.html

I credited the site for quotes rather than individual posters as that gets a bit too messy.

Cheers again

Re: Andy Impey
Had no neck and was shit.

Sold to Leicester in rather bizarre fashion as well as I recall. I think we signed him for QPR at around the same time as Sinclair but Tricky was definitely the better deal, Don't know why Impey was crap for us as he always looked quite good at QPR whenever I saw him.

Saw him play alot for Yeading where my best mate and cousin were playing in the same team.Always played wide right and had good pace.I recall going to Wealdstone to watch Yeading on a Tuesday night and afterwards in the clubhouse bar my mate telling me he had signed for QPR that night. He was in the Yeading team that won the FA Vase trophy in 89/90 season.

Didn't there used to be a poster on here called Impeys Pie Nemesis after they'd caught him a glancing blow with a pie from the stands or something? Or was that on Mangler or Two Bob?

Re: Andy Impey
Average player played out of position by Redknapo thus turning him into a shit player. Think we paid almost £2mil for him too? Back in the days when we were trying a 3-5-2 formation using players like Ian Pearce, Keller and Lazaridis as wing backs, not to mention a crippled Julian Dicks. Tactical genius was our 'arry.

We certainly had our moments in the mid to late 90s, Impey wasn't one of them. He was shite.

One mate I sat with used to shout: "Impey you no-necked cnut" pretty much every minute of every match he played in. Not sure if he was mixing him up with Gladstone Small though.

I can recall him being ok. Had better days than others. Sometimes he was good. Sometimes he was average. But I don't ever recall him being poor.

Did a job. That's about all.
